Heaven Expands to Anguilla

Altamer Resort, the World’s most Exclusive Enclave,

Starts new Construction

NEW YORK—March xx, 2007— Altamer Resort has played host to Bill Gates, Brad Pitt, Madonna, Tom Cruise, Prince Andrew, and dozens of other luminaries.  Now this exclusive playground is expanding.

Fronting 3,300 feet of pristine beachfront at Shoal Bay West, Anguilla, Altamer Resort has been a select enclave for the jet set.  Its three spacious villas have captured the imagination of the influential and powerful.

Altamer, in fact, has been described by the Financial Times as an “astonishing futuristic fantasy,” and by Time magazine as “heaven for rent.”

Under the direction of Artisan Real Estate Ventures and Island Global Yachting, Altamer Resort is adding 16 beachfront villas (each exceeding 16,000 square feet and priced at $2,100 per square foot), 23 marina town homes and 14 bird sanctuary townhouses (priced at an average of $1,400 per square foot), 20 cottages (priced at an average of $1,200 per square foot), 55 condominium units (priced at an average of $1,300 per square foot), and 30 hotel condos (priced at an average of $1,400 per square foot) on 105+ acres of newly acquired adjacent land.

The expansion is expected to take seven to ten years. The 158 units are valued at $1.5 billion, with the existing villas expecting to command $19.5 million, and the new villas, $30 million.

“Altamer has been the crown jewel of the Caribbean – a retreat of unparalleled beauty and luxury.  Now this premier property is about to become even more impressive,” said Marty Burger, president and CEO of Artisan Real Estate Ventures.

One of the highlights of the expansion is an exclusive mega-yacht marina at Shoal Bay West, which will serve as the official port of entry to Anguilla.   The marina will have 90 slips, and will accommodate mega-yachts up to 328 feet in length.  The average slip will be 77 feet in length.  Duty-free shopping and a restaurant promenade will ornament this unique facility.

Altamer’s marina will be the island’s only marina for at least the next seven years, thanks to an arrangement with the government.  Shoal Bay West is currently home to five billionaires.

A few other noteworthy features of the expansion include:

When the expansion is complete, Altamer will have 158 luxury homes, totaling 866,453 square feet.  A bird sanctuary will also be created as part of the development.

Anguilla has long been considered a destination for the affluent.  In fact, the government has actively discouraged “mass tourism” and, as a result, the island has remained unspoiled and has retained its original character.

“Altamer has been a unique enclave since its inception.  The addition of the new town homes, condos, and marina will only enhance the luster of this precious jewel,” said Michael Eggleton, co-founder and director of Altamer Resort.
