— Wisdom's Blossoms —
Shambhala Sun, April 2003
The stories of saints and heroes from India in Wisdom's Blossoms are the best kind of tales: lively and entertaining, and moral without being cruel. In each story, one of 26 virtues is illuminated by a figure from one of the main Indian religions: Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Islam. Collected by two students from the Self-Realization Fellowship (founded by Paramahansa Yogananda), these instructive and inspirational tales are drawn from India's tradition of public storytelling, which the authors say has suffered a recent decline due to westernization.
